Are we losing the battle, getting lazy, giving up? Everyday creative minds give us better options to plastic, ones that might cost us a few bucks but will ultimately last for years.

So what do you value more….

A quality product that will last for years, feel familiar, develop a timeworn patina?

Or do we naturally gravitate to sparkle and newness, and is this a natural gravitation or have we been trained like Pavlov’s dog to respond.

We have the information. We have the education, yet each and everyone of us makes regular exceptions to our eco-views and takes plastic home.

I am perplexed. I know my grandparents were able to remember a jar and a shopping basket. So why do we tend to forget? What would make us remember? What kind of public policy do you see as workable for the general public to stop the propagation of plastic?

Cheers,

Finally this winter I had the chance to try it myself. ”Oh my Gosh!” I will never buy nut milk again. It’s just so easy to make.

Almond Milk

Step 1

-Throw a cup or two of almonds into a clean mason jar

-Fill with water to about 2.5 inches above the almonds

-let soak overnight

Step 2

-Throw the almonds and water into a blender and whiz up at high speed

Step 3

-pour the mixture through a Carebag or Got it! bag into a bowl, squeezing the last moisture out by hand

Step 4

-Voila you have almond milk – Chill and enjoy

In a world full of change each one of us carries with us some things that last. An object, pair of shoes, favourite t-shirt, a tool, a machine or a simple household implement. Endurance, form and function become badges of honour and those objects are carried with us through life.
When I took over production of Carebags 5 years ago, the longevity was the appeal. I was still using my original Carebags from the early 90′s, and their usefulness coupled with such a long lifespan was the appeal. Ah yes! I will make the best and it will last. I will share it with others who don’t want to use plastic. So that’s exactly what I’ve done. It’s my niche. Please let me know what great uses you’ve found for the bags, and how long yours have lasted.
